The Athabasca Double Door Basement Walkout Project in the City of Vaughan was undertaken by Northcon Corp to cater to the client's personalized needs, providing direct access to the basement space. Located in the backyard, the separate entrance proved to be an efficient addition, enhancing the functionality of the home.

From the initial consultation, it was evident that the client had a clear vision, knowing precisely what they sought in terms of design and material choices. The envisioned basement walkout featured wide steps, a double door, black railings with clear glass, and a poured concrete patio and walkway extending to connect with the existing concrete on the side of the house. This thoughtful design ensured a seamless connection to the front of the house, significantly improving accessibility.

To bring the client's vision to life, Northcon Corp incorporated a custom-made double door, color-matched to the existing patio and main entrance door of the house. The steps leading down to the basement were generously proportioned at 7 feet wide, and the landing area measured approximately 7 feet in length by 5 feet in width. The exterior drain was strategically connected to the main sewage line, enhancing drainage efficiency.

Constructing such a large separate entrance presented inherent challenges, including extensive excavation, meticulous forming, and coordination with existing infrastructure.
